Develop concepts for the 5th generation mobile communication standard as the LTE successor, taking into account the special requirements for Machine Type Communication (MTC). Target applications are in particular the Inter-vehicle communication and wireless communications in the automation technology area. The focus of the work lies in the Device-to-Device (D2D) communication research field. Development of new concepts for Device-to-Device Communication and comparison of existing research approaches with respect to the achievable Quality of Service by using analytical and simulation methods WLAN systems based on the transmission standard IEEE802.11p have been already proven in field tests. The possible combination with cellular systems into a hybrid communication standard reveal new areas of application for driver assistance systems. Development of concepts for the integration of cellular and Wi-Fi systems into a hybrid system utilizing the strengths of both technologies
