Job Location: Shanghai, China Technical Support Application Engineer (m/f) Job Description: This position is part of the technical support team of Thorlabs China which seeks a technically minded individual who is keen to pursue a career in the Photonics industry. Along with other team members, you will provide front-line support to customers based in Mainland China and Hong Kong, ensuring the core value of Thorlabs: customer centricity and satisfaction with Thorlabs services and products. In a varied working environment, you will receive hands-on experimental work and communications with customers about their cutting-edge research methods. Key Responsibilities: Work closely with local Engineering and global Technical Support teams to provide front-line support, via phone, email and online web support tool to customers in Academic, Government and Commercial sectors Communicate with customers to understand their application and to help select appropriate products, and identify solutions according to customers requirements by means of reproducing customers setup in lab or cooperating with other entities of Thorlabs Arrange the return and repair process for malfunctioning products Provide customers with installation and training service on large-scale equipment Work with R&D engineer to test prototypes Generate new product ideas and assist in designing new products Attend conferences and trade shows and set up demos Work with marketing personnel to provide proof-reading for translated technical documents Other duties as assigned Knowledge & Skills: Master's degree in Optics, Opto-electronics, Physics or equivalent industry; experience in Physics or Life Science discipline is highly estimated 1+ year relevant work experience required Good understanding of Optics, Mechanics and Electronics Proficiency in both verbal and written English Hands-on experience in a Photonic lab is highly desirable Customer centricity with excellent communication, attention to detail and follow-up skills required Team player If you wish to apply for the above position, please email a copy of your CV along with a covering letter and your salary expectations to China-HR@thorlabs.com or via mail to: Human Resources, Thorlabs Ltd, A101, 100#, Lane 2891, South Qilianshan Rd Shanghai 200331.
