The priorities for the role include:

  • Provide overall leadership for business development, strategy, planning and execution for carrier adoption of Qualcomm’s mmW technology
  • Understanding the customers’ and partners’ businesses, strategies and objectives and facilitating business deals ensuring alignment with Qualcomm’s business objectives and requirements.
  • He/she would assist in building credibility with carrier and industry partners by articulating Qualcomm’s value proposition and positioning Qualcomm as the provider of choice in the mmW space.
  • Have in-depth expertise and robust experience in building business cases for previously unidentified business opportunities and influencing strategic business partners to define and deploy technology-based solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidate will have at least 15+ years of relevant industry experience in telecommunications/networking/infrastructure
  • Experience must include at least 5+ years in a senior leadership position

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, business, finance, marketing or related discipline is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will have excellent executive presence, strong visioning skills and well-developed market leadership skills, with a proven track record of establishing executive level relationships with wireless/telecommunications carriers.
  • He/she must possess strong collaboration and influencing skills and be able to address changing business challenges and take actions to build that capability across the organization.
  • He/she would have the entrepreneurial drive to ensure that the business enjoys superior growth rates by expanding the customer base and capturing new business opportunities.
  • The individual will possess solid strategic and business development capabilities.
  • Ideally, he/she will come from an engineering background and would have grown into a business development leadership role in the wireless/telecommunications marketplace
  • He/she will have the ability to work in a global technology company with matrixed organizational structures and management.
  • He/she will be able to work effectively with Qualcomm’s Engineering and R&D organization to translate customer and consumer needs for the adoption of Qualcomm’s mmW by the telecommunications carriers.

He/she will have Relations with Government Affairs

  • It is vital that the candidate is culturally aligned with the Company, in terms of possessing the highest standards of integrity and business ethics and being people oriented.
  • He/she must have global leadership exposure
  • Preferred Master’s in Engineering/Business Management.

Decision Making: Ability to focus on the key drivers of a decision and think through the down-stream consequences of various options.  Considers enterprise-wide implications, strategic alignment, and the broader marketplace when making decisions.  Decisions have significant financial impact, influence customer strategy, are always aligned with Qualcomm’s Code of Business Conduct, and expand or change the broader strategic plan.

Results Orientation.  Builds commitment and enthusiasm to meet deadlines and achieve regional goals within the Company’s complex business operations.  Inspires a culture of exceptional performance and ethical behavior to ensure that strategic focus areas are executed and deliver significant results for the Company.
